Q: When did you start to cooperate with BMW?
A: In May 2012, when I was attending the 86 conference in Spain (Tetsuya Tada is also the chief engineer of 86), I received a call from the Japanese chief. They asked me to go to Munich tomorrow, saying that someone would wait there. I.

Q: Has the cooperation with BMW been smooth?
A: Toyota and BMW are almost completely different in terms of business management, development process, office culture, etc. To be honest, we have been communicating for exactly two years.
We (Toyota) want a pure sports car or coupe, but BMW already has such a product, they are not interested in each of our proposals, until the management is replaced, the communication between the two sides has a breakthrough.
Q: What is the consensus between the two on this cooperative product?
XXToyota can of course do it by itself, but we need to invest a lot of money on our own, but money is not the only problem, the more important issue is time. If we do everything ourselves, you will not see SUPRA until now.
The company told me that the car must be completed by 2020, so my first consideration was time.
Q: In addition to the driving pleasure of Toyota, what is special about SUPRA?
A: We hope that SUPRA will once again drive a wave of sports cars. During the development process, I almost visited all the Japanese modified brands, as well as the old SUPRA owners. I listened to their opinions and designed many reserved spaces and holes to be modified. Used by the store, they can easily develop new products.
